‘Wall-E’ topped the box office this weekend with an estimated $62.5 million.

WEEKEND TOP 5 STUDIO ESTIMATES, JUNE 27-29, 2008

Rank. Movie Title (Distributor)
Weekend Gross | Theaters | Total Gross | Week #

1. Wall-E (Buena Vista)
$62.5 million | 3,992 | $62.5 million | 1

2. Wanted (Universal)
$51.1 million | 3,175 | $51.1 million | 1

3. Get Smart (Warner Bros.)
$20.0 million | 3,915 | $77.3 million | 2

4. Kung Fu Panda (Paramount (DreamWorks))
$11.7 million | 3,670 | $179.3 million | 4

5. The Incredible Hulk (Universal)
$9.2 million | 3,349 | $115.5 million | 3

And Indiana Jones broke $300M domestically (or will by the time you’ve read this) and The Happening is at $120M worldwide, so I suppose we should expect Indy V and Night to be just fine.

I’m so gald WALL-E took the top spot.  It deserves ALL the money in the galaxy.  ALL of it.  If I had more money i would just buy hundreds of tickets to it.  I’d buy one ticket at each of the 4,000 theaters it’s playing at and wallpaper my house with them.

I don’t think anyone’s surprised at WALL-E on top… but what do you think about next weekend? I think Hancock will be #1, because you shouldn’t bet against Will Smith, but that WALL-E will be a high #2?  No?

I think that’s right on. Really, in the family film department, there’s no new competition for Wall-E until Space Chimps hits on the 18th.
