Star Wars Jedi Survivor Review: A Spectacular Sequel

This captivating adventure not only expands upon the foundation set by Jedi: Fallen Order but takes it to new heights, creating an immersive experience that’s nothing short of a Force-wielder’s dream. While there are a few missteps along the way, the game offers plenty of highlights and a rewarding journey through a galaxy far, far away.

Jedi: Survivor picks up where Jedi: Fallen Order left off, re-introducing us to the tenacious Cal Kestis. With a plethora of Force powers and lightsaber skills already at his disposal, Cal’s journey is filled with action from the get-go. The game’s combat system is finely tuned and demands players’ attention, with a myriad of formidable foes that require strategic thinking and quick reflexes. However, some late-game bosses feel a tad cheap, relying on frustrating tactics that can dampen the enjoyment of these encounters.

Traversal and navigation challenges are nothing short of exhilarating, providing players with a genuine Jedi experience as they leap and swing through seemingly insurmountable obstacles. The game’s complexity gradually increases, ensuring that players remain engaged throughout the vast, sprawling world of Koboh. While the planet’s Old West-inspired setting is initially enticing, it can become tiresome after multiple revisits. Thankfully, the fast travel system and optional puzzles offer a refreshing change of pace.

Comparing Jedi: Survivor to Jedi: Fallen Order, the sequel has clearly taken the best aspects of its predecessor and expanded upon them while addressing some of the previous game’s shortcomings. With a more substantial story, richer customization options, and a broader range of combat approaches, Jedi: Survivor feels like a step up in virtually every way.

As for the narrative, Jedi: Survivor starts somewhat meandering but eventually finds its footing, culminating in an emotionally charged tale about finding a haven in a dangerous galaxy. The game’s character interactions and dialogue add depth and charm to the experience, with a focus on love, attachment, and the potential dangers they pose.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a triumphant sequel that captures the essence of the Star Wars universe while offering a thrilling and engaging adventure. Though it stumbles in a few areas, the game’s strengths far outweigh its weaknesses, making it a must-play for fans of the franchise and action-adventure enthusiasts alike.
