Warner Bros. is on the verge of acquiring Shiver, an exclusive sci-fi work. The movie will star Keanu Reeves and will be directed by Tim Miller, known for his direction in Deadpool.

The production of this project will be handled by Matthew Vaughn, the mind behind the Kingsman action film series, and Aaron Ryder, who recently produced the love story All of You and the Gamestop film Dumb Money. Vaughn will be producing under his Marv Films banner.

Shiver’s script was written by Ian Shorr. The film is said to have similarities to Edge of Tomorrow, a sci-fi movie featuring Tom Cruise caught in a time loop during an alien invasion, and The Shallows, a survival film featuring Blake Lively struggling against a shark.

Although the details of the plot are still under wraps, it’s rumored that the movie revolves around an often in trouble smuggler who unexpectedly becomes the target of a lethal double-cross while working in the Caribbean Sea. Fouled in a predicament involving dead bodies, hostile mercenaries, and dangerous sharks, the character finds himself caught in a deadly time loop, desperate to escape.

Ian Shorr’s works include Infinite, a sci-fi action movie released in 2021 by Paramount+ that starred Mark Wahlberg and Chiwetel Ejiofor and the horror-comedy Office Uprising, produced by the discontinued streaming service Sony Crackle.

Tim Miller made his directing debut with Deadpool, the anti-superhero film starring Ryan Reynolds, which broke box office records and spawned a franchise. Despite not returning for the sequel, Miller directed 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate, marking James Cameron’s comeback to the killer cyborg franchise. Sadly, the movie did not reboot the film series as expected. Meanwhile, Miller continued to dominate by creating Netflix’s award-winning adult animated anthology series Love, Death & Robots.

Keanu Reeves is coming fresh from the consecutive releases of Ballerina, Lionsgate’s John Wick offshoot, and Good Fortune, a comedy directed by Aziz Ansari, also produced by Lionsgate. Sadly, neither were successful. The actor, nevertheless, remains a sought-after choice and currently has multiple big projects in development, including BRZRKR at Netflix, a film based on the comic he co-created.
