Regarded as one of the biggest animated features on any studio’s release plan, Beyond the Spider-Verse forms the third part of the Spider-Verse trilogy. This series began with the Oscar recipient Into the Spider-Verse (2018), followed by the sequel Across the Spider-Verse (2023). The first film, which led to a fresh wave of unique animation, garnered $393.6 million globally. Its sequel made a whopping $690.6 million worldwide, proving the escalating popularity of the original film in the following years through home entertainment.

Across the Spider-Verse concluded with a thrilling cliffhanger where the protagonist, Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore), found himself trapped in an alternate universe, held captive by a malicious counterpart of himself.

The third piece of this popular franchise, Beyond the Spider-Verse, is directed by Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson. Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and David Callaham have penned the script. Despite the film’s initial release date of March 29, 2024, just a mere nine months post Across the Spider-Verse, many industry experts were skeptical that the date could be met considering the complex nature of these movies and the perfectionism valued by the creative minds behind them, Lord and Miller.

Beyond the Spider-Verse features a star-studded voice cast including Hailee Steinfeld and Daniel Kaluuya amongst its ranks. This latest release update marks another in a list of date adjustments for the film, which had at one point been planned for a June 4, 2027 release.
