Mia Goth is set to star alongside Ryan Gosling in the forthcoming Star Wars: Starfighter film, under the direction of Shawn Levy. Gosling takes the lead role in the upcoming production, set to commence this autumn in England and is scheduled for release on May 28, 2027.

Current information about the project is minimal, however, it is known that Gosling’s character is tasked with the protection of a youth from malevolent chasers.

Goth will take on the role of one of these chasers, a part that had been previously been targeted by Mikey Madison until her contract negotiations fell apart over financial differences.

Representatives from Lucasfilm did not offer any comment regarding the project. This film exists as a solitary narrative that does not link to the renowned Skywalker Saga, a series focusing on the narratives of popular characters Luke Skywalker and his father, Anakin. The plot of Starfighter takes place roughly five years after the 2019 installment, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

According to Levy, during the Star Wars Celebration in Japan in April, “This stands on its own. It’s not a prequel, not a sequel. It’s a fresh adventure in a timespan that hasn’t yet been discovered.”

Goth has gained significant recognition and a following due to her performances in Ti West’s horror film trilogy which includes X, Pearl, and MaXXXine. In these films, she portrayed various characters in narratives set in the 1910s, 1970s, and 1980s.

Mia Goth in a Star Wars movie is such an unexpected choice, but I’m curious to see how she fits into that universe alongside Ryan Gosling.
