Cameron has declared his intention to team up with Abercrombie to pen the screenplay. The Devils presents a darkly fascinating tale woven around an extraordinary group of creatures, appointed to save Europe from the menace of elves voraciously consuming human flesh.
Cameron expressed his profound admiration for Abercrombie’s spellbinding narrative style. He has followed Abercrombie’s stellar works over the years, savouring each book in the compelling First Law series, with special adoration for Best Served Cold and the Age of Madness trilogy. The uniquely intriguing world and characters sketched in The Devils compelled Cameron to purchase the book and collaborate with Abercrombie to recreate the magic on screen.
Capitalizing on the successful completion of Avatar: Fire and Ash, Cameron expressed his invigorated enthusiasm to bring to life the unforgettable characters from The Devils. Abercrombie reciprocated Cameron’s sentiment, stating that he can’t envision a more suited person than Cameron to capture the extraordinary essence of his book on celluloid.
Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third instalment of Cameron’s famed Avatar universe, is due to hit theatres on Dec. 19. Cameron has also been associated with work on the fourth part of the Avatar franchise, which is set to release on Dec. 21, 2029. Unable to be present during Disney’s CinemaCon announcement in April, Cameron released a video message stating that he was still in New Zealand, putting the finishing touches on the movie.
Previously, in the prior year, Cameron worked on adapting another best-seller, Ghosts of Hiroshima by Charles Pellegrino. The book explores the historical consequences of the nuclear bombing.
Also, a prolific writer for television, Abercrombie has significantly contributed to shows such as the most recent season of Netflix’s animated anthology, Love, Death & Robots.
