While Avengers: Endgame teased audiences with the Women of Marvel team-up, The Marvels takes this concept to the next level, with an almost exclusively female leading cast. Teyonah Parris, Brie Larson, and Iman Vellani are reprising their roles as Monica Rambeau, Carol Danvers, and Kamala Khan, respectively. These characters are set to create a personality and power clash that will inject Marvel’s Phase Five with some much-needed excitement.

As for the plot, details are scarce, but we do know that The Marvels is the sequel to Captain Marvel and follows S.A.B.E.R astronaut Monica Rambeau as she investigates an unusual wormhole in space. Along the way, she absorbs an inexplicable energy that links her to fellow superheroes Kamala Khan and Carol Danvers, causing them to swap physical spaces whenever they use their powers. The film will follow their subsequent team-up as they try to figure out what (or who) is behind this energy link.

In addition to Parris, Larson, and Vellani, The Marvels cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, returning as former S.H.I.E.L.D director Nick Fury, Zawe Ashton as Dar-Benn, a Kree who wields a hammer used by the Accusers, and Mohan Kapur, Zenobia Shroff, and Saagar Shaikh, reprising their roles as Kamala’s family.

As a huge fan of Brie Larson’s portrayal of Carol Danvers, I can’t wait to see what she brings to the table in The Marvels. The trailer teases some incredible action sequences, including a moment where Carol and Kamala swap powers mid-air. It’s clear that The Marvels will be a visually stunning film that pushes the boundaries of what we’ve come to expect from the superhero genre.
