Cybergosh Faves Of 2011

Share

After a weak start, 2011 ended with an onslaught of awesome in theaters. While there certainly were other films I enjoyed, this list boils down to the stuff that I enjoyed enough to own a blu-ray of… Although, let’s face it — my absolute favorite film of 2011 was really 2010’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

This year, I’ve decided to do away with “Top 10” and numbers altogether, and just present a list of my most enjoyable film experiences of 2011…

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Super 8
The Descendants
Attack The Block
Arthur Christmas
The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn
War Horse
The Artist
The Muppets
Midnight In Paris
A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas
Sucker Punch
30 Minutes or Less
Rango
Scream 4
Cars 2
Spy Kids 4: All The Time In The World
Rise of the Apes
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (THE IMAX EXPERIENCE)

BONUS FAVES!…

Best entertainment experience of 2011: Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Bobby Lopez’ THE BOOK OF MORMON.

Favorite Score of 2011: Lots of great film music this year but I gotta go Michael Giacchino’s SUPER 8 score. It sounds like our childhoods.

Favorite 2011 Theme Park Attraction: Star Tours: The Adventures Continue. Reminded me that Star Wars can still be awesome despite a tarnished brand.

Favorite New Eatery of 2011: Trader Sam’s Tiki Bar at The Disneyland Hotel, Anaheim, CA.

Favorite 2011 toy/collectable: The Disney D23 Expo’s Tronorail. Feels like something from a list of things i wish Disney would’ve made but never did.

Favorite Album of 2011: ALL YOU NEED IS NOW by Duran Duran. A 70-minute portal to 1982-style audio awesomeness.

Favorite Album from another year that I only first listened to in 2011: BODY TALK by Robyn (2010). She should have Gaga’s fame monster.

Favorite New TV Series: Warwick Davis in LIFE’S TOO SHORT by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant.

Favorite Book of 2011: Writing Movies for Fun & Profit by Thomas Lennon & Robert Ben Garant. Best book of its kind.
