Indiana Jones Community Discussion (SPOILERS)

Share

So by now, everyone knows what the MacGuffin is for the next Indy film. If you don’t, and you don’t want to, don’t continue reading.

The eponymous crystal skulls of the next film aren’t mystical artifacts, per se, but fossils. They are the missing skulls of aliens that crashed on Earth. This was confirmed by the photo of the Japanese cell phone straps (which apparently sent Spielberg into a tizzy), and last week at Toy Fair, where Hasbro showed off a play set featuring a flying saucer with crystal skeletons.

The question is: does this work for you?

Lucas said that it took years to sell this plot device to Spielberg and Ford, and maybe we can understand why. Many of the fans I’ve talked to have had a hard time swallowing it, too. Is it because that the “ground rules” established by the earlier films, featuring things like Nazi-melting religious artifacts, grounds these stories firmly in the realm of fantasy, rather than the world of science fiction?

I’ve been in love with this concept since i found out about it a while back.  I have been biting my lips and tongue trying not to discuss it openly!

The great thing is, if The first three Indy’s were modern takes on b-movies of the 30’s, this is an awesome concept…to have it not only take place in 1957 (19 years for us-19 years for indy), and take some of the ingredients of the b-movies of the 50’s.

I really can’t wait – i have heard a lot of cool rumors and i don’t wanna get into ‘em here since everyone can read these comments on the side of the page.

Same here. If the movie’s good, I’ll be happy. I won’t rule it out just because of the slight direction turn.

I firmly believe it’s gonna rock. Huzzah!
