Borin’ Aces
Just saw Smokin’ Aces, and didn’t really get it. Not that I couldn’t follow the story, I just didn’t understand the vision. Was this an action flick? Was this a dark comedy? Was this a suspense drama? It’s none of the above, and yet all of it, and with a lot of A-list talent (or on second reflection, maybe B minus list) that drank the Kool Aid to be part of it. I’d offer that something went off the rails from script to screen, but Carnahan wrote AND directed, so this was his version through and through. Too bad, decent premise that could have led to a classic film. Bake, were you a fan of this – or was that Cybergosh? Please someone explain.

I did not like this film. I only enjoyed that crazy ninja kid and his out-of-nowhere boner. If there were more oddities like that, perhaps i could have embraced this.
That didn’t make any sense! That ninja kid and the freeze frames, and his boner—and the fact that we’re even following this third-string guy on his quest for revenge?!! What the F!
Then again, it was either that or Ghost Rider last night, and I’m willing to bet I made the right decision.
just read over my review that’s in the archives. I can’t believe I liked it enough to recommend. Looking back..it’s pretty bad. Though it was worth seeing on big screen cause of the nice widescreen..nice cinematography.
