Borin’ Aces

Just saw Smokin’ Aces, and didn’t really get it. Not that I couldn’t follow the story, I just didn’t understand the vision. Was this an action flick? Was this a dark comedy? Was this a suspense drama? It’s none of the above, and yet all of it, and with a lot of A-list talent (or on second reflection, maybe B minus list) that drank the Kool Aid to be part of it. I’d offer that something went off the rails from script to screen, but Carnahan wrote AND directed, so this was his version through and through. Too bad, decent premise that could have led to a classic film. Bake, were you a fan of this – or was that Cybergosh? Please someone explain.
