Dog Bite Dog

I wasn’t expecting much because I’m not a big fan of Hong Kong films lately but WOW! Compelling film about a young killer from Cambodia who is sent to Hong Kong for an assassination. Most of the film takes place over the course of roughly 24 hours as a cop, equally as violent, is trying to track the assassin down.

We’ve seen the violent cop story so many times before but this time it seems
fresh..and sincere. He beats the answers out of people in order to stay on the trail of the killer and I found myself almost condoning the behavior because I felt his frustration.

Very, very violent but not gratuitous. Excellent stunts and great cinematography that employs alot of natural light. Has that Terminator relentlessness. What more can I say but to see this film…DVD’s are available in Chinatown and on ebay.

Okay, I’m interested in these films, but quick question:  why are most Hong Kong films about assassins assassinating assassins and such?  Seariously.  The only twist they throw in is drug addiction.
