65 Review: A Jurassic Disappointment Despite Adam Driver’s Best Efforts
Get ready to travel back in time to a world of missed opportunities and lackluster execution with the sci-fi thriller “65”. This film may boast Adam Driver as its leading man, but unfortunately, that’s about the only thing it has going for it.
The movie follows Mills (Driver) and Koa (Ariana Greenblatt) as they crash-land on an uncharted planet inhabited by dinosaurs. As they attempt to reach the emergency shuttle to escape the planet before an asteroid hits Earth, they must fight for survival against prehistoric predators.
While the concept may sound thrilling, the execution falls flat. Director duo Scott Beck and Bryan Woods fail to deliver a tautly-paced and visceral ride, with action set pieces often cut short to make way for bland character interactions. With a $91 million budget, one would expect more exciting visuals and gripping moments, but the special effects are nothing to write home about, and the jump scares are few and far between. Maybe that budget was used for the Super Bowl spot…
Even the talented Adam Driver can’t save this film. While his performance is commendable, his character lacks depth, and the obligatory backstory feels contrived. Greenblatt’s character is underdeveloped and doesn’t leave a lasting impression.
Overall, “65” is a disappointing film that fails to live up to its potential. The lack of action and suspense makes for a dull viewing experience. It pains me to say it, but this movie is likely to go extinct faster than the dinosaurs did.

Really wanted to love this movie, but it just didn’t do it for me. Even Adam Driver’s acting couldn’t save the plot. Kinda dissapointing.
Really wanted to enjoy this movie because of Adam Driver, but it fell short for me. The plot seemed forced and the dinosaurs just didn’t look realistic.
