‘Jumanji’ Sequel: Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart Return in Sony’s Upcoming Adventure

– Sony is set to start production on the latest sequel of its popular franchise, Jumanji, in November in Los Angeles.
– The film will see Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan reprising their roles, with Brittany O’Grady and Burn Gorman being new additions to the cast.
– Due for release on Dec. 11, 2026, the plot details are yet to be revealed while the production has been greenlighted after being under the radar for some time.

Brittany O’Grady, famed for her role in the first season of Mike White’s HBO series, The White Lotus, will be a new addition to the star-studded team. Burn Gorman, who has graced the silver screen in movies like Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds, is another fresh face to join the Jumanji brigade.

Details about the plot have been deliberately kept in wraps. However, it is known that Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg penned down the script for the sequel.

Jumanji draws its roots from the 1981 picture book by Chris Van Allsburg, encapsulating the enchanting life of a board game. Sony revived this theme in a 1995 movie starring Robin Williams, which served as the primary inspiration for the modern, star-studded Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle in 2017. This version replaced the board game with a video game, responsible for trapping four teens in adult avatars (Johnson, Hart, Black, Gillan). This motion picture raked in a whopping $962.5 million worldwide, thus kickstarting a franchise. The sequel, Jumanji: The Next Level, released in 2019, pocketed a global collection of $800 million.

Based on one’s perspective, this latest installment can be considered as the fourth part of the series, connecting with the 1995 Williams narration, or as the third part of the relaunch by Johnson and his star team.

Anticipation builds as Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Ser’Darius Blaine, and Morgan Turner, who enacted the ‘In Real Life’ characters in the previous sequels, are likely to return along with Awkwafina, who was a part of the 2019 edition.
