‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ Sequel Confirmed, Warner Bros. Taps Lori Evans Taylor

– Warner Bros. division New Line is developing a follow-up to its hit horror movie Final Destination: Bloodlines, with co-writer Lori Evans Taylor returning to script the next installment.
– The previous installment, Bloodlines, was highly successful, grossing over $286 million worldwide and marking the most successful release of the franchise to date.
– The Final Destination franchise, with its unique concept of characters trying to cheat death, has grossed over $983 million worldwide, ranking as New Line’s third-biggest horror series.

New Line, a division of Warner Bros., does not plan on preventing gruesome fatalities. On the contrary, it’s laying out plans for creating even more, as it prepares to proceed with the sequel of its hit horror movie, “Final Destination: Bloodlines”. Lori Evans Taylor, who is also a co-writer of the movie, has been assigned to write the next part.

The decision to press forward came on the heels of the enormous success of “Bloodlines”, which was released in May, grossing around $286 million globally with $138.1 million collected nationally. This movie marked the sixth iteration of the horror series and was the first to be released since 2011.

Of all the movies in the series, “Bloodlines” made the most significant revenue with its domestic earnings more than twice that of its predecessor, “The Final Destination”, a 2009 release.

Taylor had a fundamental role in writing the movie script, in collaboration with Guy Busick of “Ready or Not” fame. The storyline was a collaborative effort between Taylor, Busick, and Jon Watts, who directed Spider-Man: Homecoming and was creatively invested in “Bloodlines”. The film was directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein.

Craig Perry, the franchise producer and caretaker, and veteran Sheila Hanahan Taylor are once again managing production. They are joined by Watts and his wife, Dianne McGunigle, along with Toby Emmerich. Worth noting: Watts and McGunigle’s first date was a screening of a Final Destination film.

“Destination” proved to be an unexpectedly successful series for New Line in the early 2000s. The central premise of each movie – a character foresees a horrifying, fatal event, escapes their own demise, saves others, only for Death, depicted as an unyielding force, to track down each survivor – seamlessly fit into every locale and storyline.

The movie series has gathered gross earnings exceeding $983 million globally, making it third in line among New Line’s successful horror franchises. It follows the record-breaking “The Conjuring” Universe, with gross earnings of $2.3 billion, and the “It” series, earning $1.2 billion.

An impressive figure in the world of horror, Taylor wrote the adaptation of “The Edge of Normal”, the serial killer book from Carla Norton. She completed this project in spring 2025 featuring Chloë Grace Moretz with direction from Carlota Pereda.

Taylor’s past accomplishments include the psychological thriller “Cellar Door”, and her debut as director in “Bed Rest”, a supernatural thriller featuring Melissa Barrera. She also adapted “I Am Still Alive” for Universal featuring Ben Affleck.
