Dichen Lachman Joins ‘Host’ Director Rob Savage’s Next Horror Film

Dichen Lachman, best known for her chilling dual roles in Severance, is the latest name to cast a long shadow over the upcoming supernatural horror film directed by Rob Savage. The untitled feature is being produced by Universal alongside Atomic Monster, the powerhouse James Wan brand, and Blumhouse. Lachman joins an ensemble that already includes Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain and indie favorite Jay Duplass.

The story unfolds around an eight‑year‑old girl named Bela, whose family is starting to crack under the pressure of a troubled marriage. Into her life creeps an insidious presence she dubs Other Mommy. This entity emerges from Bela’s closet and whispers a chilling invitation: “Can I go inside your heart”. When Bela refuses, Other Mommy’s grip on the household tightens, promising escalating terror.

Rob Savage, director behind hits like Host and The Boogeyman, brings a distinct brand of tension and intimacy to horror stories. He is directing from a script by Nathan Elston, who helped craft Succession’s unnerving dialogue. The production is anchored in Dublin, with filming kicking off earlier this month, as the cast and crew conjure the creeping dread that makes supernatural horror so immersive.

Lachman’s role among Chastain and Duplass hints at a complex family dynamic, perhaps as a mother caught between Bela’s fractured reality and Other Mommy’s sinister allure. Lachman has a strong track record in genre TV and film, she appeared in Jurassic World Dominion, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Altered Carbon, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and is returning in seasons two and three of Netflix’s Avatar live‑action series.
