If the rumors are true then Lana Del Rey could finally land one of the most iconic gigs in entertainment: crafting the theme for the next adventure of James Bond. The upcoming game 007: First Light from IO Interactive is already fueling excitement as an origin-story take on 007, and now whispers suggest Lana may provide the theme song titled “First Light.”

Lana Del Rey Rumored to Sing Theme for 007 First Light Game

Fans first noticed that Lana registered a track under her real name with ASCAP titled “First Light,” and the timing coupled with the exact match to the game title has sent Bond fans and music lovers alike into speculation mode.

It is not confirmed by any official source yet, but this would carry symbolic weight. Lana Del Rey previously revealed she had written a Bond-related track for Spectre back in 2015 called “24,” but it was passed over in favour of Sam Smith’s “Writing’s on the Wall.” This time around it could be a second chance at the Bond-theme spotlight.

Why does it excite so many? Bond theme songs are more than just musical cues, they often set mood, tone and become part of the franchise’s identity. From Shirley Bassey to Adele the theme has carried legacy and prestige. If Lana’s voice-and-style join the Bond universe here that could bring an atmospheric, moody texture befitting the origin story angle of the game.

007: First Light is described as placing Bond in his early career, before the signature martinis and full-blown licence to kill, which means the tone is already likely to be fresh while honouring tradition. A Lana-powered theme would help frame that vibe: a touch nostalgic, but modern and moody.

Of course this remains unconfirmed. IO Interactive have not officially announced the theme artist nor the song title. So the speculation is part of the fun. If Lana Del Rey is the voice though, it might give the game additional cultural shine, not just among gamers, but within music-and-pop culture audiences too.

For Lana it would also mark a personal win. Having missed out on a previous Bond theme she now has a shot at joining the storied lineage of artists who’ve defined Bond’s sound. Her registration of “First Light” suggests that this time the alignment might finally click.

Whether the game’s marketing team will lean into the theme reveal in a big way (trailers, music video, streaming release) or keep things on the hush until launch remains to be seen. But for fans of Bond, of games, and of Lana Del Rey, the possibility alone adds an extra layer of intrigue to 007: First Light.
