Bruckheimer Teases F1, Top Gun 3, Pirates 6, But No Pearl Harbor 2

Jerry Bruckheimer is at it again. The producer behind some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters has confirmed that three of his tentpole franchises may soon be returning: Top Gun, F1, and Pirates of the Caribbean. That’s a lot of high-octane fuel for one career, and it’s clear Bruckheimer isn’t slowing down.

The project furthest along is Top Gun 3. After Maverick defied expectations with global box office success and critical acclaim, a third entry almost feels inevitable. Bruckheimer confirmed that director Joseph Kosinski is back in the mix and that Tom Cruise has already heard a pitch he liked. What the film will look like is anyone’s guess, will it bring Maverick back for one last ride, or pass the torch more firmly to the younger pilots? Either way, revisiting that world of speed, loyalty, and danger in the skies has fans excited.

Bruckheimer also admitted he’d like to see more laps from F1, the racing drama he developed with Kosinski and Brad Pitt. “Hopefully we’ll make another one,” he said, careful to note that nothing’s official yet. The first film was praised for its authentic use of racing circuits and high-speed realism. A sequel would give the team a chance to push further, whether that means expanding the drama on the track, spotlighting new rivalries, or even exploring a different side of motorsport culture.

Then there’s the Pirates of the Caribbean saga. It’s been adrift since 2017’s Dead Men Tell No Tales, but Bruckheimer revealed there are currently two scripts in development. One of them still involves Margot Robbie, who had previously been announced as the lead in a spinoff, while veteran writer Ted Elliott is working on another draft alongside fresh talent. Could Johnny Depp return? That remains uncertain, though fans will be watching closely. With two possible directions, Disney is clearly testing the waters before committing.

It’s no surprise that Bruckheimer is sticking with what works. These are brands that audiences around the world know instantly, and the excitement comes from not just revisiting these universes, but from wondering who will step into the cockpit, the driver’s seat, or the captain’s quarters next. Will Cruise truly anchor another Top Gun, or could we see his character hand things off in a dramatic way? Will F1 introduce a new generation of drivers? Will Pirates lean into familiar faces or chart entirely new seas?

One thing Bruckheimer is not hinting at is a Pearl Harbor 2. Probably for the best. The man knows his audience.

For now, all three projects remain in early stages, but Bruckheimer dropping updates suggests they’re active priorities on his crowded slate. Fans of jets, engines, and cursed treasure should pay attention, because the producer has a history of turning “what ifs” into must-see events. If even two of these projects make it to screens in the next few years, moviegoers will have plenty to look forward to.
