Vought Rising Unveils Golden-Age Supes in First Costume Reveal

The realm of The Boys is expanding into the past with Vought Rising, and the latest reveal is pure golden-age gold. The prequel is set in the 1950s and Prime Video has officially rolled out first-look portraits of its early superheroes. Jensen Ackles returns as Soldier Boy, donned in classic eagle-insignia gear that feels ripped from the era. He is the patriotic prototype that homelands before Homelander arrived. Standing firm by his side are three new Supes—Bombsight, Private Angel, and Torpedo.

Vought Rising Unveils Golden-Age Supes in First Costume Reveal

Mason Dye brings Bombsight to life with a WWII fighter-pilot look that speaks of airborne mischief. Elizabeth Posey in angelic white becomes Private Angel, with a retro sweetheart charm that cuts through the shadows. Will Hochman’s Torpedo takes to naval tones with a serious, aquatic swagger that stands out even in monochrome styling. Together they form a fictional squad that feels stamped from history.

The show’s co-creator Eric Kripke and showrunner Paul Grellong describe this as a twisted murder mystery rooted in the origins of Vought International. With Soldier Boy at the forefront, the story promises noir vibes mixed with superhero absurdity, and lots of moral murk. Stormfront, back then known by her original name Clara Vought, will appear later but she is not in these initial portraits.

Think of Splatterhouse meets retro pulp fiction. These Supes are dripping with caricature charm, but don’t let their polished aesthetics fool you. The intent is diabolical from the start. Viewers can expect twists that bring squeaky-clean hero tropes into the gutter with a blood-soaked twist.

The images offer fans a tantalizing glimpse into a world built on the illusion of Americana. At once nostalgic and unsettling, it is a power suit for the soul that reveals everything at the surface while hiding the rot underneath. It all adds up to a new flavor of Boys storytelling that aligns pulp sensibilities with vicious satire.

No premiere date has been announced yet. The production has just begun but with Gen V season 2 set to arrive soon, and the main series wrapping up finale episodes, the timing couldn’t be more perfect to stir fan excitement. Soon these 1950s Supes will romp across screens telling a retro tale with modern brutality.

For now fans can stare, speculate, and delight. Will Soldier Boy unite the team or betray them? What secrets do Bombsight, Private Angel, and Torpedo carry? And most importantly, how filthy will the golden age get once Vought gets involved?

Interesting to see how they’re bringing the Golden Age heroes to life. The costumes look pretty true to the era. Curious to see how these characters fit into the bigger story.
