Dan Stevens, known for his role as Trapper in Legendary’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, is currently in talks to reprise his character in the upcoming Monsterverse film.

Grant Sputore, the director of I Am Mother, will be helming this creature feature, which has recently cast Kaitlyn Dever, a fresh face to the franchise, as its first human actor.

Details of the plot are being kept tightly under wraps, but Legendary has revealed that the story will introduce new human characters who will join the beloved Titans, Godzilla and Kong, as they confront a world-threatening catastrophe.

The screenplay for this installment has been penned by Dave Callaham.

In Godzilla x Kong, Trapper, clad in a breezy Hawaiian shirt over a simple t-shirt, made his entrance by performing a perilous dental procedure on Kong, replacing the giant ape’s infected tooth. This laidback veterinarian then finds himself joining the other characters on an expedition into the treacherous Hollow Earth, a realm inhabited by colossal and monstrous creatures.

Legendary’s Monsterverse has been captivating audiences for over a decade now, starting with the release of Godzilla in 2014. With five movies in the franchise thus far, Godzilla x Kong emerged as the most successful entry at the global box office. Additionally, it spawned a highly regarded series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, available on Apple TV+.

Stevens has been making waves in the industry, consistently appearing in a slew of films and shows. In 2020, he showcased his talent in Universal’s vampire thriller Abigail and the chilling horror flick Cuckoo from Neon. This year, viewers can catch him in the Netflix series Zero Day, headlined by Robert De Niro and premiering on February 20th. He also stars in Swiped, a drama from 20th Century Studios based on the founder of the dating site Bumble, as well as AMC’s horror series, The Terror: Devil in Silver.
