Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox announced today that the 3D theatrical launch of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace now has an official release date — February 10, 2012. Part of me will always love the communal experience of sharing that first midnight show at The Ziegfeld or The Chinese with fellow fans waving their sabers high as the Fox Fanfare thrusts through the speakers. And for that I truly look forward to next February. The other part of me, well, I guess I’m glad 12-21-12 will occur before Episode II through VI get all of the 3D fuckedupness.
