I like it… but I also liked Ang Lee’s Hulk. Of course, this will bomb as well.

You’re the second EG’er in two days to lay claim to liking Ang Lee’s Hulk. Can you elaborate? I just don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say they liked that movie. I honestly can’t find anything to like in it… I won’t argue, I just want to understand. smile

The only thing I liked about Ang Lee’s Hulk was the giant hulk sculpture bursting out of the multiplex on universal citiwalk.  Oh, and Nick Nolte melting.

As for this trailer – well, I never was a big Hulk fanatic.  If this trailer was our FIRST glimpse of the green guy getting big-screen treatment, I’d be more excited.

But it already feels like well worn territory and I don’t yet see anything that suggests a fresh tone or take on the “comic book movie” which (like Ironman) is the best way to rise above the competition.

To me, this looks okay.  Not bad, not good.  It looks like a guy who gets mad and turns into a monster and the government want to control him and he wants to control himself.  And there’s a girl.  And a bad guy who’s an evil version of the good guy.  What is NEW about this?  Is this not basically the plot of the first movie????

They can do better.  Hulk smashing is not enough for me.

Why I liked Ang Lee’s Hulk: I thought Bana was awesome, a great Bruce Banner.  Ed Norton, I’m not feeling it.  I thought the actual Hulk himself was great, him hopping around and fighting tanks, frickin’ cool.  The Nolte shit, didn’t like, nor the end fight scene… but I even liked the little comic panel bits.  And the score, Elfman’s score was awesome.  I didn’t like that one comic panel where the guy gets blown up, that was a little gay.

The Hulk was the only movie I can think of that had the audacity to put a flashback within a flashback.

Total freaking mess from a writing standpoint. I couldn’t even comprehend the muddled story enough to judge what the actors were doing, but they all looked perdy. Hulk dogs were really dumb.

For me, the movie was a total failure. Worst of all, it was boring. Sure, the Hulk ran cool and threw tanks, but I had to put with way too much nonsense to get to that point.

    Blech.

All that negativity aside, I’m really anticipating this version. I like the Hulk, like the idea of a Hulk movie, liked the trailer well enough, and really like Edward Norton.

I hope this and the Iron Man movie make enough money so that they do a crossover sequel. Iron Man: Hulkbuster!
