Halo vs. Metroid

Wait… people can do this now? On their home computers? Where the hell have I been? Oh, right– writing screenplays featuring ideas other people sell.

This makes me so happy.  While it will take decades, the power is starting to shift back to the people, baby.  F HOLLYWOOD!

    WAITAMINUTEWAITAMINUTEWAITAMINUTE!  WHAT THE HELL?

THIS IS AMAZING!  Someone used in-game content to create their own movie, OR did somebody actually animate wthin the game – I don’t get it.

I don’t get how many of these unique angles and camera perspectives are possible, unless the animators had access to the game engine.

This is the best thing I’ve ever seen.  This is the resume of someone who could go straight from his mother’s basement to an office on the Universal lot.

I mean, I mean Jesus Christ.  This was just 1000 times more exciting than any trailer this summer.

Timing, tension, stunts, sound design, this is the best thing I’ve seen on youtube all year.  Not that people cursing at innocent cats wasn’t also a modern marvel, lol.

I want a HQ version of this.

I’m fairly certain this is all animated from scratch. It’s certainly not the in-game engine, the characters don’t have enough polygons.

  4. Junktape says:

How can you tell from such a compressed video?  Wow.  So this was made entirely from scratch?  I’m even more impressed.  I so wish I were fifteen and had a desktop mac to experiment with (sexually).

  5. Fat Ass says:

Well, I just know that Master Chief isn’t the same polygonal build from Halo by sight. And I know you can’t take off his armor and make him a hot Japanese girl in the game.

Why don’t you just buy a desktop Mac and I’ll come over and we’ll experiment (sexually)?

  6. Eros Welker says:

I feel like such an old man time and time again, because as much as I enjoyed this video and think it was wicked awesome—I didn’t like that there was a Japanese girl under the suit, especially since we know our favorite spartan has a manly Solid Snake-y voice.

But I guess that’s the joke – American icon, Japanese girl.  Japanese icon, American girl.

After the credits, that dance sequence was hilarious.

  7. Junktape says:

Well the real joke is that this is how the game of Metroid ended – people played the entire game to find out at the very end that Metroid is female.  So I think it’s just a parody of the Metroid experience.
