Stay for the credits

We certainly don’t need to tell Chris this, but when you go to see X-Men: The Last Stand this weekend, and we know you will, make sure to stick around for something beyond the credits. There’s much more detail than that, but it’ll probably be akin to getting punched in the face after getting your [...]

Next ‘Narnia’ pushed back 6 months

This week, the folks at Disney announced that The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian has been pushed back from its previous release date of December 2007 to Summer 2008. Director Andrew Adamson said that the additional time was necessary to complete the massive special effects for the Fantasy Adventure.

The Pink Five Series

My favorite fan films of all time. Excellent sound design, music and production value, with a premise much funnier than it has any right to be — a valley girl has Rosencranz & Gildenstern-esque adventures set against the backdrop of the three star wars films. The first is hands-down the funniest, but each installment improves [...]

The Wilhelm Scream

A series of screams performed by an actor were recorded in 1951 for “Distant Drums,” a Warner Bros film. They were used for a scene where a man is bitten by an alligator. The recording was stored in the studio’s sound effects library, and has since been used in many of their films. Sound Designer [...]

Star Wars TV Series Revealed!

Despite the bad news surrounding the DVD’s, we have a dose of good news this afternoon. Seems Lucas has abandoned the Bounty Hunters theme for the forthcoming live-action TV series and instead opted to center the show around the mysterious Baron Papanoida, briefly seen in Episode III.

Star Wars DVDs not remastered

Face it – you’re buying them anyway, but looks like the new Star Wars “original” trilogy being released by Lucasfilm is NOT going to be remastered. Basically it’s a transfer from the “definitive collection” laserdisc masters (which by the way are the same discs I was making my personal DVD transfers from, lol), with 2-channel [...]

Artwork for DVD Release

Kinda disappointing it’s not the actual classic posters (fans with photoshop could make more interesting images). Re-creating them in this shitty, glossy style is a sucky idea. Hate that the Vader shown on Episode V is actually from Revenge of the Sith press materials, but whatever. –slusssh— We take what we can get…

TARZAN swings (AND FALLS) on BROADWAY!

Saw this mess of a show on its FIRST PREVIEW night back in March. Give them a little slack for the early bumpy problems, but what a tragedy! Should close on principle alone, but slowing ticket sales will surely do it first!! More reviews follow:

Must Love Jaws

Recommended by Snake Baker – almost as good as Shining and Brokeback to the Future. Only reason it’s not as good in my book — is that it breaks the trailer rules and shows things that normally would never be seen in a real trailer (even though still very funny). One of the best edits [...]
