Marty McFly’s Nike Air Mag shoes with power laces from the year 2015 may become a reality.

Via Cinematical: The website NiceKicks.com took notice of Nike filing for a patent on shoes with an automated lacing system. Now, of course it’s not referred to as “power laces”, but it does have more than just the comment in common with McFly’s Air Mags. Just take a look at one of the patent’s diagrams:

Well I’m sure Simon Doonan, the creative director of Barney’s, didn’t set out to pay homage to the late DJ in his Halloween 2010 costume collection for Target.  That would be dead tacky, and we know Simon hates tacky.  But didn’t someone down the production line think this was a bad idea?  DJ AM,  formally Adam Goldstein, was a walking Final Destination movie, surviving a plane crash only to die a year later from an accidental drug overdose, earning his MTV show about addicts the title of Keepin it Really Real.  The only way to salvage this costume is to throw a leather jacket over it and set yourself on fire, there, now you’re Ghost Rider. 

 The guy at the party dressed as Antoine Dobson is still going to own you.

Troll 2 is arriving on Blu-ray for the first time on October 5th from MGM Home Entertainment. Grab the popcorn, lock the doors, and prepare to be gobbled up by the film that inspired the hit documentary Best Worst Movie.

Joshua Waits has been warned by his grandfather’s ghost that his family is about to embark on a dangerous vacation to the town of Nilbog. Although he tries to stop them, Joshua fails to make his parents see that there is something suspicious about the town. The residents are extremely friendly, but are constantly trying to feed the Waits with strange, green delicacies. Joshua soon realizes that the town of Nilbog is actually “goblin” spelled backwards, and that his family has been lured into a trap. With the help of Grandpa Seth, Joshua must save his family from being turned into vegetables and devoured by the vegetarian goblins!

Ricky Gervais has spoken up about “Life’s Too Short,” his upcoming Curb-esque series revolving around Warwick Davis, saying that he’s already planning a movie version of the series. He’ll wait to see how the show does first, of course. But he’s looking on the bright side of life and says, “Let’s have it ready in case it’s a success. Always plan for success.”

Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant have another a new series coming to the UK’s Sky 1 “An Idiot Abroad.” In it, Ricky and Stephen have decided to torture Karl Pinkleton by forcing him to travel around the world visiting different places even though Karl hates and fears everything…

Once again A&E’s Hoarders has inspired, terrified, and shamed me into picking up this place a bit, but luckily upon going through the layers of things not put away for years I found something far better than a decomposing..something.  Buried in a box of old Spy magazines (miss you, Spy) was the book  “Scream For Jeeves,” an H.P Lovecraft / P.G. Wodehouse mash up. I remember buying it in college, and to my surly Gothic Anglophile  heart there could be nothing better.  Here we are 15 years later, and you can’t swing a dead Hoarder cat without hitting Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Sense and Sensibilities and Sea Monsters, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter – I wonder if the author of  Scream for Jeeves, Peter H. Cannon,  is banging his head against the wall somewhere, seeing these puds selling tons of books and getting movie deals.  I just wanted to say to you, Peter H. Cannon – I know you did it first, and you did it better.

OK, now, normally I would never be posting anything that was remotely related to a shitty-shit the likes of The Last Exorcism. However, I’ve gotta give their marketing apartment props for what I think is one of the best marketing stunts of the year…

This is fantastic. It still won’t get me to see the film (although if it was an hour and a half of exactly this, I’d probably see it twice!)- but it does earn new respect for it and between this and Stallone’s YouTube chaos, it’s been a fun viral August.
