Recently I was insane enough to accept an invite to a cast and crew screening of a no-budget digital movie. As I feared, it was another entry into the mumblecore genre, but… I’m pleased to say I enjoyed it. The film was funny, an odd little digital treat.

The film is called DEALING, and the makers bill it as ‘a comedy about depression.’ It does deliver on the title and I found myself laughing quite a bit. It’s far from perfect (takes itself too seriously from time to time) — but overall it’s funny and stupid in a good way. No doubt, the French will hate this movie. I hope it finds a life in the world of festivals.
