Star Tours LAST Last Tour 9/7/10 Footage

Star Tours as we know it closed forever on Sept. 7, 2010 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. D23 held a final flight event so members and their guests could be the last ones to ride. Stormtroopers escorted the guests from the front gates to the Star Tours attraction and rode along with us during the final flight. Nothing more needs to be said about the end of Rex… The trooper at the end of the video sums it all up.

Star Tours: The Adventures Continue will be in 3D, feature multiple destinations and take place between Episodes III and IV.

While at the event, a cast member informed me the plan is for a soft opening both in Disneyland and Hollywood Studios on May the 4th, with a grand opening aimed at May 17, 2011 (why not May 25th, I wonder?).

This would put Star Tours II’s opening right in time for the first of Hollywood Studio’s Star Wars Weekends. Needless to say, I will be there!
