After The Wire, for the record one of the GREATEST television shows ever, I feel like I have no need for HBO. The comedy block of Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Flight of the Conchords are not enough to keep me a subscriber, and the only real show I like that’s still on is Big Love, and I don’t like it THAT much… and besides, I’ll just rent them on DVD. Plus, a lot of their recent series haven’t been all that compelling: (Tell Me You Love Me, while excellent, was probably the most depressing show ever, and In Treatment was the biggest bore ever).

The good news, Alan Ball has yet ANOTHER show in development, Bad Girls, and it’s about a women’s prison! So that along with the vampirific True Blood may turn the tide. Honestly, I’d be happy if they just started doing more America Undercover documentaries; those were amazing.
