I liked the ice bears. And did not think they looked all that bad. but maybe my standards are way lowered post-mist. the lead girl was cool i thought. but i don’t love the film at all. something was off. but i guess i just wanted to say i had not prob with the ending the way it was. i like endings like that a lot. BTTF2 best ending in movie history as far as i’m concerned.

My friend described Golden Compass as being “Previously on Golden Compass,” a collection of montages and brief scenes but for 2 hours. I personally didn’t think the ice bears were any good, and was kinda disappointed in Ian McKellan as an armored bear. I also thought about Coca Cola the whole time, because the bears looked like them instead of some photo-realistic animal. There is one good scene and payoff in it, which is the best of the entire movie, but it was still too little too late.

FWIW: I don’t hate everything. I just re-watched Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and absolutely adored it all over again. Wonderful, beautiful movie. Gene Wilder, you rule...d.
