Star Trek remastered in HD

Is everyone here watching the new HD remasters of the original Star Trek on NBC? If not, they’re a total joy because the live action footage now looks beautiful, and the special effects are amazing. They said that the effects are intented to look like they could have been done in the 1960s, but now and then they go nuts. For example, check out the comparison between this old and new FX shot from “For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky”–

WOW.  I friggin love that!  Amazing.  So they shot the astroid, a new plate?  Redid the effect?  I love it!  And thank you I didn’t know they were showing on NBC right now.  Is there a set time slot?

It’s on saturday nights, as far as my Tivo can tell.  In no particular order – I’ve been watching these and I truly love them.  Such a great way to revisit the original series…

For me it’s on at like 12:05am on sunday nights. Totally dead time slot. I guess they figure the only people who would care to see it are also passionate enough so that the time slot is irrelevant. Then again, thanks to DVRs, time slots themselves are irrelevant.

The problem I had, initially, was that I was trying to record it.. but there are like six stations that show some form of Star Trek and I had no idea which one was airing this version.  But thankfully it will reach DVD and I don’t have to worry no mo!
